Basement Waterproofing

We are always going to be open to helping you with preventive services. Although most of the services that we offer actually seem to make more sense when you already happen to have a problem on hand it is always good to be able to avoid these problems altogether. One of the most effective ways that you are going to be able to do this is by waterproofing your basement. There are actually different ways that you can get around to doing this. We are going to talk about some of the more common ways that we use to help you in these situations.

Using Vapor Barriers

One of the more common ways to make sure that you are not going to be getting an excessive amount of moisture in your crawlspace or basement is to install vapor barriers. The easiest way that we can describe vapor barriers is by saying that they are large pieces of plastic that we are going to be able to attach to the wall. The idea behind this is to not trap the moisture in a certain spot but actually allow it to release into the air instead of ending up embedded in one of your walls.

Setting Up A Drain

This is one of the more effective ways to deal with the water that is going to be present around your basement. When you build a home you are going to be removing the virgin soil that was in place to be able to build in the area. Then you are going to have to fill it with soil that is not going to be as compact. That is why it is not uncommon for moisture build-up to be more of a problem. What we can do is install what is called a french drain to make sure that the water that builds up ultimately leaves the area.

Seal The Foundation Cracks

Another strategy that we could recommend that you use is to seal the cracks in the foundation. This kind of goes back to the last point that we made in which we said that the area around the basement was not so compact. There are always going to be natural joint points and other areas where cracks are bound to develop. One of the ways to waterproof the area is to literally inject a solution in those cracks that are going to expand and fill them up. Effectively not allowing moisture to pass through.

Not Just One Idea

The reason why there are different methods that we could potentially use is that we know that usually, one idea is not going to be enough. There are different ways that moisture can build up and we have ways to make sure that we are able to cover most of the common entrance points that moisture has. One method or one single idea is usually not going to be the long term answer to all of your problems.
