A lot of homes in and around Norman have crawl spaces and these types of foundations set up. These foundations are built from a concrete or metal pier that is going to be holding up what is mostly a wooden frame. It is not that it is overly common for these piers to malfunction if you will. It is actually more common to see that the frame that they are holding up is what is deteriorating. In any case, when you start seeing these problems there are different types of signs that are going to start showing up. The main trick is to not ignore the signs.

Insulation Problems

Why are we talking about this here? Well, when insulation fails or you just have a lot of mold building up for a variety of reasons the wooden frame that is going to be being held up by the pier is going to rot and decay. If you want to make sure that these types of foundations are not giving you much trouble you are probably going to want to keep these areas as clean and as mold-free as you can. That they are not going to be falling apart over time.

Time is An Enemy of All Things

When we set up these types of foundations we are probably not thinking that we are going to have to worry about repairing them in the near future. Over time though there are going to be certain things that come your way that can just take a toll on your foundation. When this happens it is not uncommon that we are going to have to come in and add extra support to the structure. Especially if we are having trouble keeping things steady. Again proper maintenance over time can really help prevent these problems.

House Leveling & Raising

House leveling or raising is going to be just one of the methods that we are going to be able to use to help certain problems or cover certain situations. This is a procedure though that should not be taken lightly. If you are going to do it because you are having foundation issues that are causing the walls to crack and things like that you need to make sure that you are actually evening things out. Just raising the home equally may not be the best option for you. If you want to add a basement or crawlspace it may be a good idea.

Adding Extra Support

As we have mentioned one of the ways that we are going to be able to add some extra support to the structure if we see that some of the support that was originally set up is lacking. As with pretty much all of the work that we do this is something that we are going to want to do with the utmost care so that at the end of the day we are not going to be dealing with worst problems.
