Concrete Slab Repair

Most people don’t ever think that they are going to have to repair a concrete structure because of how durable concrete is said to be. Which, is not a lie actually. Yet, from time to time different problems can develop to the point where we are going to need to step in unless you want your concrete slab to literally become impossible to walk or drive on. Obviously not all problems have the potential to get so severe. In spite of that, we think that it is important that you at least know who to call if and when you come across a problem like this!

Some Areas Are More At Risk

One of the things that most people should know is that certain areas are going to be more at risk than others. That is mostly because of the type of original terrain that can be found in certain areas. Over the past few years, for example, there has been a lot of talk about how supposedly the oil and gas industries have reawoken the fault lines across Oklahoma. It is not our intention to spark a debate here. All that we are going to say is that it is more common to see concrete issues in an area near a fault line or just overall unstable terrain.

Not All Cracks Are Equal

Just because you happen to have a crack on your concrete structure it does not mean that it will inevitably open up a crater to the center of the earth if it goes unchecked. What can happen is that it will spread and cause damages to a larger area. That is why we would advise that you take cracks with some seriousness. It is easier for us to make quick smaller repairs than major slab replacements. Not to mention the fact that it is going to be less expensive for you!

Full Slab Replacement

When we are talking about problems that we know we are not going to be able to fix just by trying to seal some of the cracks that we are going to find the next step that we are going to have to take to be able to fix the situation is to replace the entire concrete slab. What we are going to be doing in those particular cases is just literally cut through the existing slab and removing it to bring in a new one.

Repairing The Original Terrain

A lot of the problems that we are going to be seeing develop in concrete slabs are going to come about because the original terrain has shifted in some way. So it is important for us to make sure that we prep the ground correctly when we are replacing a concrete slab. Otherwise, it is very likely that we are going to have more problems moving forward even if we go through a replacement procedure. You are probably not going to be able to obtain major benefits from it!
